Introducing Mounted Workflow: Turn Your iPhone into a Camera Tracker

Six years ago, we started Omniscient with one idea. Today, we’re finally making it available to everyone.
With Mounted Workflow, you can attach an iPhone to your DSLR or cinema camera and use it to capture your camera’s movement in 3D, ready to use in your VFX workflow.
Back in 2020, when we first saw LiDAR on the iPad, we immediately thought about its potential for VFX. And we made a bet: sooner or later, it would come to the iPhone. That’s where Omniscient began.
The idea was simple: mount an iPhone on a professional camera and use it as a 3D tracking device. That was actually the very first version of Omniscient we started developing. We imagined the iPhone as a kind of omniscient point of view. Mounted on the camera, but able to see and understand things the camera itself couldn’t. That’s where the name came from.
Little did we know how long it would take to get this feature to a point where we’d feel happy sharing it with everyone. It turned into a much longer journey than we ever expected.
Six months ago, we finally opened the beta. Since then, dozens of professionals have tested it on real shoots, with everything from Sony, Canon, RED and Blackmagic cameras to even traditional film cameras! There’s still so much we want to improve and add. But we believe it’s finally ready to share with everyone, and we’ll keep making it better along the way.
The Mounted Workflow is now publicly available as part of our new Omniscient Pro tier.

We can’t wait to see what you’ll create with it! And thank you to everyone who helped us test it along the way 🙏🏼
