Frequently asked questions

Omniscient Virtual Camera turns an iPhone or iPad into a live camera controller for Blender. The free Blender add-on streams the viewport to the app over your local network, and the phone's motion drives the Blender camera in real time, so you can frame, rehearse and record camera moves by physically moving through your scene.

Can I control the Blender camera from my iPhone in real time?

Yes. Install the free Omniscient add-on in Blender, open Virtual Cam in the iOS app and scan the QR code shown in Blender. Once paired, moving or turning the phone moves the Blender camera live, and touch gestures and joysticks handle fine adjustments.

Which Blender versions does the virtual camera support?

Blender 4.2 LTS and later, including Blender 5.0, 5.1 and 5.2 LTS. The Omniscient add-on installs as a Blender extension.

What do I need to run a live session?

An iPhone or iPad with the Omniscient app, a computer running Blender 4.2 or later with the free Omniscient add-on, and both devices on the same local network. The live session runs over that network, not through the cloud.

Is the virtual camera free?

Yes, you can start for free. Live camera and viewport control, touch and joystick navigation, AR movement and playback are free, along with 3 camera motion recordings per day. Plus adds AR smoothing and removes the daily recording limit.

Can I record a camera move and render it?

Yes. Recording writes the camera move into your Blender scene, so you can play it back, scrub through it and render it like any other camera move.
